Jesse and Rachel are friends of mine. First and foremost.
I absolutely love these guys. We met when they inquired about my shooting their wedding, and when they came in for a consultation, the meeting lasted about 2 hours. I’m pretty sure we talked about the wedding for maybe 15 minutes. We just hit it off immediately. After the meeting, Des and I had a date night, and they actually came along with us! That night we spent about 5 hours hanging out an getting to know each other. In the coming months we would hang out with them more and more. At one point Jesse came on as my intern! He has assisted me on most of what you have seen on here for the last six months or so. He has begun his own photography journey over at Jesse Leos Photography. He is going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store in the future.
I have never met two people that EVERYONE likes more. I have not come across a single person that has met Jesse and Rachel that don’t absolutely love them. They are just a lot of fun, and everyone likes fun, right? Go check out their blog and get to know more about them. So in true form, their wedding reception was held at the flight museum in Dallas, and they had a carnival/state fair theme for their reception, complete with Frito Pies and Cotton Candy.
The ceremony was extremely emotional. Well at least it was for me. Jesse washed Rachel’s feet, which I have seen before, and it’s beautiful, but then Rachel took her turn to wash Jesse’s feet, symbolizing their wish to serve each other equally. I pretty much lost it there. In this day and age, that is about as non-politically correct as you can get, for the wife to kneel and do such a subservient act, but Jesse and Rachel understand that it’s necessary to serve. Each partner, attempting to out serve the other, trusting God with their own needs, while doing all they can to meet their spouse’s. Such great symbolism.
I feel completely honored that I was trusted to tell their story, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God had so much more in store for our relationship that simply photography. Here’s to an amazing journey Jesse and Rachel, and many more years of laughter and fun. I pray we are in each other’s lives for a long time to come.
