For the Love. Workshop.

This life is amazing. This world we see, and the people in it, teem with life and yearn for us, as photographers, to tell their story in a way that is honest and passionate. In a way that belies the sentiment that “every picture has been taken already.” The Creator of Creativity is far from done inspiring and creating, and I am PUMPED to say that I am going to be part of a 4 day 5 night voyage into the depths of connection with that Creator. A renewing for some, revelation for others, For the Love is a retreat of sorts, but I like to think of it as an “advance”, moving forward into a deeper, more intimate connection with God.

Make no mistake, For the Love a photography workshop, and along with myself, the unmistakeable Lauren Clark will be teaching and ministering to your photography needs ;) We will cover all of the typical workshop material, but also how to honor God with our business and creativity.

One note. There will be no judgements. All of us who are putting this on fall short everyday. It’s only by the Grace of Father and the immeasurable Mercy He extends us that we can stand and magnify His Name. He is the reason “For the Love”, not us. So don’t worry about what “denomination” we are a part of, or what “version” of Christianity we ascribe to. We aren’t interested in what divides us, but what makes us unique. We just want to love Jesus, and we aspire to “Love God and love people”. As my good friend Otto Schulze says, “We’re family.”

I hope to meet many of you in the mountains.

October 30, 2009 - 12:23 pm John - Why are there blessed photographer/business people now, Ansel Adams would cringe at tying your religion into your photography in such a public way, as though you just got outta high school, and got your little clique started as quickly as possible. You don't see any of the old school photographers blessing everything and everyone every second they get, they just focus on the art of photography. If I were of a belief system different from yours and were looking for a photographer to shoot my wedding I would see that perhaps you would be uncomfortable at my wedding if we prayed to an asteroid or announced that we believed that our religion was the only way to salvation and all others would surely burn in hell (right when you would be looking down the barrel of your camera documenting it). Or if I were simply one of the hundreds of religions around the world that are counter to Christianity, you wouldn't feel comfortable and I wouldn't feel comfortable, so why announce this every chance you get? Because you think you are right and everyone else is wrong, period. You are living in a state of delusion.

October 30, 2009 - 3:00 pm admin - Wow, that's awfully judgmental. Why would I be concerned about what Ansel Adams would think about my viewpoint? I do not tie my religion into my photography. First of all, I have no religion (on my better days), and second I couldn't anymore separate God from my photography any more than I can separate taste from my food, it simply is. Why would I want to praise God every chance I get? I suppose if the only reason I was a photographer was to make money, I wouldn't. I am a photographer because there are people I am supposed to impact that I would never had met had I not been one, that's it, He could have just as easily made me a chef. What money I make is only a benefit, not an end. I find it odd that you consider bookings as a meaningful argument as to why I would speak about this publicly. Regardless, I have shot many weddings where the bride and groom do not claim Jesus as their Messiah. Are you implying that I think less of their commitment because they aren't "Christians"? That is horribly judgmental, and quite erroneous.
